Position Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
- A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
License/Certification
Minimum Required:
- Current NYS RN License
Preferred:
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
- Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
- Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients.
- Rooms are air conditioned and heated.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
- Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
- PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by Infection Control policies
- All Age Groups
- Level 3: Clinical - Access to non-restricted patient information
About the Role: United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring a Telemetry Staff Registered Nurse, to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. We look for critical thinkers who are able to work with a team of doctors at any given time. Medical Surgical is a fast-paced environment with ever changing needs. Our diverse team of nurses provide a supportive, and collaborative environment.
Schedule: 12-hour shifts; 7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM days and nights, every 3rd weekend
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitoring vital signs and responding when necessary
- Patient assessment and examination
- Administering medications and interventions provided by Physician
- Monitoring patient progress and condition
Qualifications:
- A valid RN license
- 1-year bedside nursing experience
- ACLS preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Previous experience in med surg preferred
